Rainbow pop... butterflies

Happy Thursday crafty friends!

Time for another Inspired By challenge, this week we are being inspired by....

Rainbow Pops #IB285

I was inspired by the sketch and COLOR... reallllyyy inspired by color... lol.

So, as I've previously explained, my creative mind is a little weird....
when I first saw the cake pops I immediately thought of my new Pinkfresh Studio butterfly washi tape, don't ask how/why/WHAT?!.... I don't understand my creative mind either.
But once I get an idea in my head, the idea will somehow turn into a card....
usually not in the form of the original idea (such is the case here) but some semblance of the original idea will make it through to the final project...

Speaking of final project, voilà, an explosion of color ...

A little more detail about the creative process...

I knew I wanted to incorporate the sketch into my design - my original idea was to do that somehow with the butterflies and some circles... yeah, that didn't work. Good thing I remembered I had this Spellbinders circle illusion embossing folder, which I thought was perfect.... and then I went ahead and covered it up with the rainbow explosion collage so it's now barely visible... but hey, I know it's there! lol

Since I was using primarily Pinkfresh Studio products, I was also designing the card to align with this month's Pinkfresh Studio challenge - Circles & Rings - hence, additional explanation as to why the card design took the direction it took.

I had a blast creating this card... lots of layering, trying to keep the the butterflies and floral washi somewhat tone on tone to keep it looking less busy than it already was due to all of the color.

Another weird creative mind confession... somehow I saw 'movement' in the alignment of the cake pops in the photo prompt, so I wanted to try to recreate that in my card as well. Lord I wish my creative mind would just chill sometimes!! ha
Anyhoot.... it all began with the colorful butterflies, inspired by the rainbow pops!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, appreciate it very much!!

AAA Cards Challenge 263

Hello hello!!
I am excited to be sharing a challenge card today for AAA Cards, as a guest designer! 😊

Here is the current challenge:

And here is my card…

I opted to go with the wedding/anniversary twist.
I die cut the boxwood greenery and ink blended with several different shades of green distress oxide inks. Then to add interest, I went about distressing the greenery by spritzing water and splattering white and black inks.
I stamped the heartfelt sentiment and adhered the greenery in a heart shape to the notched edge die cut panel.
Be sure to check out the rest of the designers creations on the AAA Cards blog, hope you will be inspired to play along!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
xoxo ~Rae

Inspired by.... stroll

Hello crafty friends!!

It's time for another Inspired By challenge.... and it's GORGEOUS!!!

Inspired By #284 - Stroll

I have been swooooning over the beautiful soft pinks and flowers since I laid my eyes upon the inspiration photo!! I used them as inspiration for my card and used the sketch to guide my design as well. As for the theme... I envisioned strolling to/from a farmer's market (somewhere in France, preferably)...

Et voilà, ma carte....

Hellloooo PINK!!! Sakura (cherry blossoms) galore! Pink butterflies!! Yummy pink paper!!
Shades of pink offset with crisp white...... one of my favorite color combinations to work with!

Ooohhh, and let's not forget the shiny gold... another favorite accent with this color combination ;)
This card just makes me happy :) Layer upon layer of pink and white and flowers and butterflies... lol.

Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the design team interpreted this challenge and how YOU will be inspired!! Please head to the Inspired By blog for more inspiration and to link up your project!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, appreciate your visit!! :)

Inspired by… umbrellas

Hello hello!!

It’s time for a new Inspired By challenge! This week we are being inspired by umbrellas!

Inspired By 283

I was inspired to make two cards - the first card was inspired by the theme; the second card was inspired by the colors, the umbrella handles (I saw rainbows?! lol) and the sketch (somewhat).

Card #1
So for my first card, I stepped waaayyyy outside of my comfort zone/norm with a water colored background and paper piecing! And I am SO glad I did, I just love this card… although every time I look at it I think of the Morton Salt girl 🤣

Card #2:

My second card was actually my first card. When I looked at the inspiration photo, the umbrella handles reminded me of rainbows, and that’s what drove the card design. Cute result, but glad I continued experimenting and made a card #2!

Check out the rest of the design team’s projects on the Inspired By blog, we can’t wait to see how you are inspired this week!!

Thanks so much for visiting today, appreciate it!!
xoxo ~ Rae

have a great day

Snuck in a few minutes of crafty time today to play along with the latest sketch challenge at

Freshly Made Sketches - sketch #629

I took a little liberty with the sketch, choosing to flip the oval shape and use an arch shape instead 😊

I was in the mood for bright springy florals 😊
Except for the embossing folder (Simon Says Stamp) and twine, all products are from The Stamp Market (dies, stamps, inks, patterned paper, sequins).

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
