find a rainbow

another day, another challenge... love it!!

today I played along with the latest CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #393

So initially I was a bit intimidated by this sketch, not gonna lie....

But finally, after digging through my crafty stash, the light bulb went off, and this is the result...

It's a loose interpretation of the sketch, but rather than get tripped up on my typical literal interpretation of sketches, I decided to go with what I "saw"... and in the circles of the sketch I saw the arcs of a rainbow!

Lots of die cutting here... the card panel, the cloud, the rainbow... and a wee bit of stamping, with the Reverse Confetti sentiment. Added a bit of fine gold trim and a few clear dots.

I was so pleased when my original frustration with the sketch turned into a card that I really like!!

Grateful for another CTS sketch to challenge my creativity and help me think outside of the box!!
Thanks for stopping by!!

It's ok to not be ok

Played along with the latest sketch challenge over at CAS(E) This Sketch #392

And here is my card...

I used a yummy Altenew stamp set to stamp the panel, added some black embellishments, and tied a stamped sentiment around the panel. A simple, clean card ... just the way I like it!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) this sketch #389

hello hello!!

Spent a little time in the studio today doing a little one-armed card making! LOL

(just had rotator cuff surgery last Thursday and my dominant right arm is immobilized)

I was losing my mind just sitting in the bed doing nothing, so I thought I'd see if could make a card?!

I was happy to come across the latest sketch challenge at CAS(E) this sketch

Here is the card I designed:

Pretty pleased with how it turned out... for a one-armed creation ;)
I chose some neutral tone on tone patterned papers for the color blocks, Hero Arts nesting US maps die, sentiment stamp from Simon Says Stamp Crafty Hugs release Greetings Mix 2, stitched rectangle die, some puffy heart stickers, pearls, and twine. The map and sentiment panel are popped up with foam tape.
It may not be my best work, but it is a special card nonetheless... I made it to send to my daughter who just returned to college yesterday.... she flew home this past weekend to take care of me after my surgery ♥

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek!

miss you

There's another great sketch up at CAS(E) this sketch!, and you know I just had to play along!!

So, it's still a huge struggle for me to keep things clean and simple.... but I am so grateful for challenges like these.

They really help me learn to embrace white space and allow bold colors and sentiments take over the card rather than a gazillion layers and embellishments. I'm learning... baby steps!!! LOL

The colors I chose were inspired by the colors in the latest Inspired By challenge.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

always thinking of you

played along with another fantastic CAS(E) this sketch challenge #368
Not gonna lie... this one really stumped me at first... I mean really, truly stumped me.
But, I'm glad that I forged on and faced the challenge. I take on these challenges as a way to step outside of my typical card making comfort zone and grow!
So, after a LOT of struggle... here is what I came up with...

Super simple, but it's all good.
Thanks for stopping by!

hey it's your day!

Time for another great CAS(E) this sketch! challenge #367
When I first looked at the sketch I was stumped.... but then I came across this patterned paper from the Hooray! collection by Crate Paper and the card just came together!
All of the card pieces were fussy cut from the patterned paper and adhered to the card front with foam tape. Super simple, but a fun, colorful birthday card to have in your greeting card arsenal!

Thanks for stopping by!!

change

hello!
Played along with the latest CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #366

Loved working with this sketch!!
I just love playing with designer papers.... the patterns, the colors, mixing and matching.. love, love love!!!
I'm also a sucker for great fonts, so this sentiment stamp from WPlus9 Design Studio (Onward and Upward) immediately caught my eye!

you make me smile

Played along with a couple of challenges this weekend...
I enjoy combining a sketch challenge and a color challenge
CAS(E) This Sketch #365 and Color Throwdown #586

And here's my card!
This was a fun one to make!!
I rummaged through all of my pink and purple papers, and knew that I wanted to use a bold sentiment. It was fun creating with a color palette outside of my comfort zone.

Great challenge!
Thanks for stopping by...

you fill my thoughts

played along with two challenges to make this card....

Pretty darn proud of this one.....
I am not typically good at the CAS style, but I think I may have succeeded here!! LOL
I chose to keep the color palette light and pretty monochromatic to help keep the card clean. And I really restrained myself when it came to embellishing the card to keep it simple as well.
Love how this one turned out!

thanks for stopping by!!

CAS(E) this Sketch #362

Card therapy courtesy of CAS(E) this Sketch #362

as per usual, I instinctively take a literal interpretation of the sketch....

and then...whooooaaaa.... went CRAZY... flipped the sketch and took some liberty with the sentiment strip!! LOL

thanks for peepin' ;)
